Work Safe : Work Smart

Our Comprehensive Health & Safety Approach

Safety is always TSL’s number one priority and is delivered without compromise. At the heart of everything we do is the belief that every person working on a TSL site should return home safe and well to their families and loved ones at the end of each day. We support this commitment through a proactive approach and our global contractor minimum standards. This ensures we stay ahead of potential hazards, safeguarding our projects and our people.

We also implement Behavioural-Based Safety Programmes that focus on influencing positive safety behaviours and creating a culture of proactive risk management. By encouraging safe practices, we aim to reduce incidents and enhance overall site safety.

Our Reward and Recognition Scheme celebrates and rewards exceptional Health and Safety performance. This scheme motivates teams and individuals to achieve excellence in safety practices, reinforcing our commitment to a safe working environment.

We have also rolled our integrated site access control system across our projects to ensure maximum site security and visibility of live site data from a comprehensive dashboard.

Our Health & Safety Team

At TSL, safety is everyone’s responsibility and is embedded at the core of how we operate worldwide. Our Environmental, Health & Safety function delivers expert oversight, governance, and hands-on support across our global project portfolio. Dedicated Health & Safety Managers and Advisors are fully integrated into every project team, ensuring rigorous global standards are consistently implemented on site, addressing local risks while driving compliance, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture across all TSL sites and offices.

Ensuring Sub-Contractor Safety

Ensuring that our subcontractors adhere to our rigorous health and safety standards is a key aspect of our safety approach. We require all subcontractor partners to meet our high EHS requirements through our Global Contractor Minimum Standards. These standards are designed to maintain safety excellence throughout our supply chain.

We also utilize a Safety Quality Reporting App, which supports multilingual remote inductions and site inspections. This app facilitates comprehensive EHS data analysis, allowing us to swiftly implement training plans based on observed needs.

Our system for monitoring and measuring the health, safety, quality, and environmental performance of our supply chain partners is comprehensive, ensuring that our partners maintain high standards on live sites.

To further promote safety, we have established a quarterly EHS Performance Awards program. This initiative recognizes subcontractors who demonstrate outstanding EHS performance. The awards are supported by established KPIs, ensuring consistency and fairness in performance reporting.

Keeping the Lights on Safety

TSL’s campaign to ensure safety remains firmly in the spotlight at all times across our operations, is known as ‘Keeping the Lights on Safety’. As part of this campaign, we have rolled out a specialist Behavioural Based Safety Programme across our projects, alongside a Safety Roadshow, led by our Group EHS Director, Group Construction Director and In-country COOs.

We also organise ‘International Safety Stand Ups’ across our projects – honing in both on risks associated with specific project environments as well as covering key preventative measures based on trends and risk patterns which we closely monitor across the industry.

We are also proud to support the Lighthouse Club Construction Industry Charity who offer a range of support services to industry professionals, keeping the lights on individual wellbeing most importantly. The Lighthouse Club regularly visit TSL sites as part of their ‘Make it Visible’ tour. This vital service is helping to make the support offered by the charity more visible, communicating the help and support available to construction industry professionals.
